sighted Sweetbread Mushroom on

Is this a Miller / Sweetbread mushroom? It was found growing out of the gravel on mountain road in Haines, Alaska on Mt. Ripinski around coniferous and deciduous trees.

Hard to tell, it’s a pity you cut the stipe. As you’ve brought it home why not make a spore print? A very good indicator of id, heavily relied upon in most guide books. Also note smell and dissect mushroom to examine gill attachment to stipe etc. Check for any ‘milk’ bleeding from cut mushroom or colour changes. Next time when you pick for id try and dig out as much of the stipe as you can 😉 Good luck!

Thanks, that’s good advice on cutting. It had a slightly longer stipe that did not flare at the bottom.
