Found after rain on rotting wood and leaf matter in deciduous and native eucalyptus forest below the Lake at the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens, Victoria, Australia. Identified as Tremella fuciformis. Common names: Snow fungus, snow ear, silver ear fungus, white jelly mushroom, and white cloud ears. Tremella fuciformis produces white, frond-like, gelatinous basidiocarps (fruiting bodies). It is widespread, especially in the tropics, where it can be found on the dead branches of broadleaf trees. It is considered to have culinary and medicinal value in some cultures.
