The AI app agrees on Armillaria. I’m surprised - it’s not a genus I’m very familiar with, but most of the photos I see here show large clusters growing directly on wood. This single large specimen is old, but it sure looks different from typical photos!

How do you differentiate A. ostoyae from A. mellea or A. gallica? (ostoyae was the AI’s 3rd choice.)
