By appearance it sure does have a couple of characteristics similar to the Cantharellus Cibarius. One difference is that is was found on the side of the tree about 8-12 feet off the ground and in a cluster verse many of the pictures showing them growing individually. By I do not think it has a fruity smell and well I cannot verify the pepper taste until it was eaten but that is not going to happen this time around.
