Ganoderma applanatum hosts (but not always) the larvae of a dipteran: Agathomya wankowiczi, causing numerous deformations of the hymenium, in the shape of a teat, called cecidia. These galls, when they exist, are sufficient in themselves to determine this Gonoderma applanatum.
