Use the ‘online consultation’ for id. Ideally you need a few more photos, of the pores, of the mushroom cut through the middle. Describe any changes to colour or staining to the flesh on cutting, and scratch the pore surface...describe any staining (e.g. rapidly turns blue, slowly stains red over blue or does not stain etc.) Note smell and size. Very important with boletes (this is a bolete species) note the tree it was growing under or near...all boletes have a mychorrzial (the fungi mycelium and tree roots work symbiotically) relationship with trees and which tree is important. Lovely looking bolete!

p.s. Enjoy the investigation! I noticed a very good N. American bolete id page online not long ago. Narrows down species through characteristics.

It stains blue when bruised and also it’s HORTRBOLETUS RUBELLUS. But thanks for the info I was hoping someone who knew the mushroom would identify it and the lady helped me that way it was found under wet wood lines.
