Hello In Germany it would be Gomphus clacatus , it belongs to the genus Cantharellus . I don't know if the species is also common in America. 😉

Thank you for the great information! It is Turbinellus flococcosus, formerly known as Gomphus flococcosus. And not edible, which would explain why my squirrels didn’t eat them

This is Gomphus floccosus, not known in Europe. Gomphus clavatus is also growing in USA but different.
